Congrats to WINNER! Even though the team I wasn’t supporting took it, when I went to vote, I realized I had become so accustomed to seeing the winning group together, and couldn’t picture them being broken up in any way, while the other team had members whose faces I wasn’t remembering as part of the group (if that makes sense). It made me even doubt if I was voting for the right team. It was a really close race though. All 11 of the guys are really talented, and I wish them the best. ♥

Side note: from an analytical approach, this show was quite interesting, and I’m curious to see what will happen as a result not only to the artists involved, but to the music and entertainment industry in Korea as a whole. If you haven’t watched any of the episodes, they are on Mnet’s YouTube channel, and they have English subs (and I think Spanish and 日本語 too).

Why GD is one of my faves in music - he knows what’s up. (x)

30 Day K-Pop Challenge -Day 29: A k-pop song you never get tired of

2NE1 - Follow Me (Try To Copy Me)

This song reminds me of how I felt when I first fell for K-Pop. ♥

(also, is it just me, or does Bom look totally different here?)

30 Day K-Pop Challenge - Day 9: Your favorite k-pop performance

This performance reminds me of when Michael Jackson would rearrange his songs to be played by a real band to add to the largeness of a live arena atmosphere (if that makes sense). Great stuff!
Side note: sorry for all the BB. I do actually listen to other stuff. It’s just that this is too good to pass up!

30 Day K-Pop Challenge - Day 7: A k-pop song that makes you cry

This technically isn’t “K-Pop,” but it is a Korean song that comes from a popular artist in Korea so there. Whether or not you understand all the lyrics, you can feel the emotion in the song. Especially after you read his story (I know it’s lengthy, but it’s definitely worth the read! Soooo moving). This man was the victim of the most brutal example of cyber bullying I’ve ever heard of, and I’m surprised he came through the other side. You know it’s bad when Ashton Kutcher tweets to tell people to stop, and he didn’t even know the guy.

BIGBANG

A magazine that I didn’t really want arrived at my door. Then I opened it to find this. Yesssss!

This is the current song on my blog right now. The rapper of the song, Tablo, is a Korean-Canadian who graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English from Stanford University in one 3.5 year period. Basically, he’s a genius. His lyrics are always heartfelt and thoughtful, and this song, he says, is his way of showing appreciation and acknowledgement that everything comes from something. The fully translated lyrics are as follows:

A cup of coffee, its source is poverty.
A tiny hand that should be extending towards a dream, while
Holding a paper air plane or a pencil,
Is damp with coffee-taint.
Hand-drip. Thanks, little barista.
It’s reality hurts my heart, say I. But I need caffeine, hurry and add a shot.
Vicious cycle’s circulation; I’m consumption’s leech.
One man’s poverty is another man’s luxury.
Afar, people who made my shoes are probably bare-feet-ed.
Even the warmth that holds me can be traced to blood-filled holes and stacks of bones.
In order for me to look like a have, the have-nots’ tears pools in the back.
Everyone says ignorance is a bliss. It’s because conscience turned into a disease in this world.

Source. Is it beauty if it came from filth. Tell me.
Trace. Is it beauty if it came from filth. Represent where you’re from.

Oil and energy has already turned into holy water.
War and chemistry has its provenance in greed.
The problem that shines brighter than blood diamond, but it’s a problem more tiresome than gas price.
In order for my car to be on commute,
For a child that continues on walking,
Someone crawls the battlefield.
Source is fear, and the flag planted in the ground dug up by a system that followed is slanted.
But I need technology.
Hurry and build me another factory, please.
Whether it’s festering in the roots, the whole tree or the forest, as long as the branches bears an apple, it’s all holy garden to me.
So that I may go forward there is a precipice being created after me at every step.
Everyone says time solves everything. It’s because present turned into a disease in this world.

Source. Is it beauty if it came from filth. Tell me.
Trace. Is it beuaty if it came from filth. Represent where you’re from.

All the people who are inconvenienced for my comfort, thank you. And I’m sorry.
All the people who hides their breaths so I may breathe, thank you. And I’m sorry.
All the people who has crumbled so that I may stand, thank you. And I’m sorry.
All the people who are sources of this world, thank you. Thank you.

Source. Is it beauty if it came from filth. Tell me.
Trace. Is it beuaty if it came from filth. Represent where you’re from.

It’s 2NE1! ♥
