Yes, I just spammed y’all with U-KISS.

Guess what?

Why? Because this is my new jam. And yes, I may be a VIP first, but guess what?

Look at the above GIF again.

Here’s what I wrote about it on facebook:

Finally, a Korean single from U-KISS that I love even more than Neverland - in fact, I like it even more than their Japanese stuff! I’m so glad they’ve finally broken their addiction to constant auto-tuning and broken “this is Mordney present” English, and had some killer harmonies (btw, I noticed a bass voice in there, I wonder who it is). This group has really blossomed over the past year, and I’m looking forward to what they have next. ^_^

First reactions:
1. Lydia Paek?!! Awesome!
2. GD’s hair is sooo yellow. That’s gonna take a while to get used to.
3. Those kids are adorable.
4.This is kinda weird, but it’s all in GD fashion, so that’s okay.
5. Awww, Taeyang back to braids and a bandana. It’s like they’re young teens again. Is this what GDYB would have looked like?
6. I’m looking forward yet am also afraid of what Simon and Martina are going to say, especially concerned about Simon.
Additional reactions:
GD’s got some serious rapping skills.
I hope those animals were treated fairly.

Trapped in a musical conundrum.

There’s something about the vocal styles of Infinite that I just don’t like. It’s not quite nasally - I just can’t put my finger on it. It’s like borderline whiny, but not.

But then I hear the beat to “The Chaser,” and it’s amazing 80s-style beat that captures the 80s in a way that other songs don’t, and months later I’m still thinking about it.

And their choreography is so tight.

And they’re so funny on variety programs.

I want to really want to listen to the song, but really don’t at the same time.

What do I do? Gaaaah.

—-EDIT—-

So after watching Kara’s “Pandora,” I realized that enjoying that late 80s-style goodness and not enjoying Infinite’s song would mean I’d be going by a double standard…so I’m just going to succumb to “The Chaser.” I have to have something to hold me over until GD’s album comes out!

“I’m beginning to get extremely fed up with the entire kpop fandom as a whole. It seems after all these years, fans are starting to lose track of the original kpop goal. The goal wasn’t for a group to be ‘better’ than the other. For your ‘oppa’ to be ‘prettier’ or ‘sexier’ than someone elses. No. Kpop was made to bring people together through a common interest; music. IT wasn’t a contest. It wasn’t a fashion statement to be in a fandom or have a bias. It was just a simple genre of music bringing people together. That is all it was ever meant to e. So it’s disheartening ot see all these fans completely mutilating the greatness that was once the kpop genre. Of course kpop has changed over the years, but it’s not for hte better. All I see is, “I’m so sick of the ___ fandom!”, or “___ has no talent/is ugly/etc!”, or worst of all, I see this. “My fandom is better than yours!”, “My oppa/unnie is better!”, “Your fandom sucks!” Anytime I see something like this, I can feel safe knowing that these people are not true kpop fans, and never will be with their attitude. People like that are missing the true purpose of kpop. You can’t have that mindset coming in to kpop. There’s nothing wrong with having biases and liking certain groups musics over anothers. Just remember, each idol is an individual like you. All of them will be different in some way or another, and so will the groups, like you. They will make mistakes, like you. Each person, each group, had their own style. Comparing them is childish and you might as well be comparing the movie Spiderman to the food spaghetti. You can’t compare them; they’re not even the same thing. All this fandom is about is, “I hope my oppas win the award! They deserve it!” Wake up. It’s not a contest. Stop twisting up the meaning and being so immature. Just listen to kpop, be supportive of your bias/fandom in a mature way, respect other fandoms and idols, and stop worrying about who wins the next contest. Because whether they win or not, they’re still your favourite group making your favourite music. Or…is it the newest thing to only like the popular groups, too?”
I know that’s a lot, but I HAD to get this off my chest. If it wasn’t said soon, I might have exploded. Thank you.

I agree with most of this. However the music shows and awards are supposed to be competitive. That’s what makes K-Pop exciting. I feel that some competition helps to push each group to do their best - they’re inspired to come up with grander ideas, crazier fashion, and - most importantly - more daring music and concepts.
